Our environment is currently facing huge obstacles that have the potential to seriously disrupt our future and the future of our shared environment. Whilst there is speculation, the current apocalyptic predictions for our planet tend to paralyze people rather than motivate people to take action.

However this is changing and Australia is home to some of the world leaders in environmental, sustainable and pure living methodologies, practices and knowledge.

IF set out to find the innovators who seek to create a better future for humanity by improving our shared environment. Be it through design, business, collaboration or strategic thinking and action.

This IF talk is an enthusiastic and informed look and discussion around the future of pure living, why, how and more importantly, how business, corporations and organisations can and should be applying this type of thinking to modern companies in the immediate future.
All profits from IF talks are donated to STREAT to help provide homeless youth with a pathway to full time employment.

This IF talk is being hosted by Matt Perry. Read below for panelist bios and more info.

Matt has promoted products from yoghurt to Rolls Royce cars and everything in between.

He has worked in London, New York and the Czech Republic. His travels through Central and South America in the late 1990s and early 2000s woke him up to the environmental and social crisis.

On arrival in Australia he established a sustainable forestry business whilst continuing his career in marketing.

In 2007 he studied at the Centre for Sustainable Leadership.

This was the catalyst for him co-founding Republic of Everyone which is  a company dedicated to building and promoting sustainable brands.

He is a published author, blogs, writes for industry media and speaks at industry events on business, brand and sustainability.

Ando thinks the world is getting better, but would love to help it pick up the pace.

Unlocking more potential from almost 7 Billion minds seems like a good start, and so his work contributes to ideas that help achieve this.

After stints in design, engineering and the surf industry, he recently co-founded Investling, a small group building businesses from good ideas.

What the world needs now is… a trillion small improvements.

But most of his mates just consider him an international man of mystery, and the ones in Europe think of him as Australia’s de-facto Ambassador to Europe.

With first hand experiences of both war and peace Prashanth is recognised as one of Australia’s most inspirational and influential leaders in international humanitarian law. The Sydney Morning Herald recognised him as a ‘Face to Watch’ and a “fire-bellied visionary who puts his ideals into action”.

When Grant was first introduced to the web in the mid 1990’s, he was drawn to the promise of individuals being able to communicate on a global stage. Even at this early point in the web’s history he recognised as its power source the people connected by it. Over the next 15 years Grant witnessed the realisation of this promise, most vividly demonstrated in the rise of large-scale social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

Grant founded Zumio in 2008 to apply his rare blend of skills, developed through his experience in roles across the commercial and non-profit sector, in support of ventures that aim to achieve positive environmental and social outcomes.

Since foundation, Zumio has assisted organisations such as the Inspire FoundationVicRoadsUNSW, and Amnesty International Australia in achieving their goals. In each case Grant’s focus has been on identifying opportunities for creating value both for his clients and their constituents and stakeholders.

As a workshop facilitator and public speaker Grant has delivered presentations and workshops on the topics of social media & networks, “Government 2.0″ and online business development for Web Directions South and CPA Australia.

Prior to founding Zumio, Grant produced web projects for award-winning sustainable design agencyDigital Eskimo and managed online communications and social media strategy for conservation organisation WWF-Australia, including for the inaugural Earth Hour (2007). He has also developed web applications for the business sector in the areas of financial and carbon accounting (SaasuClimate Friendly).

Grant is currently studying the Master of Sustainable Practice degree at RMIT.

Melinda spent the first few years of her working life traveling the globe in event management. This was followed by a more sedentary and slightly less riveting role in finance law before realising grey walls weren't the shade she looked best in.

Deciding to pursue a long held desire to work in the arts, she began in series television at Network Seven before embarking as a freelancer, working on a plethora of commercials, music clips and feature films.

Born with the star sign of a twin, it was only natural that she would make another u-turn and upon returning from a trip to South America started life as a shopkeeper of ethical and sustainable finds.

She hopes that considered consumption will become the norm and is passionate about curating a mix of desirable, functional and positive products which tread a softer and kinder path to our doors.
